itihaasakGurudwaras.com, A Journey through Sikh History

This article was published in CHARDI KALA in 1998. This is a copy of Report submitted by Abul Turani in urdu. This report is lying in Aligarh Muslim University. BHAI CHARAN SINGH JI brought this article. The university authorities did not allowed to get the Article Photocopy, Then Bhai Sahib Ji had noted the article himself.
He was Both Farmer and a physician. He was a true and practicing Sikh. A Scholar of Sikh religion and exponent of the hymns of GURU GRANTH SAHIB. He was about 70 years old. From his library I found a book, whose first and last three pages were missing. It was written in urdu by Historian Named Abul Ulla Tarani, who was first Brahmin and then converted to Islam. He was an agent of Emperor Aurangzeb and was posted by him in the court of SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI. He attended the court of GURU SAHIB in the garb of Brahmin, wearing Brahmin forehead mark, a cotton Dhoti and sacred thread. He would send daily report to the Emperor. He lived with GURU SAHIB’s gardener named gulaba. Every day he would go to GURU SAHIB and pay his respect. The tenth master, Who with his divine instinct , knew Abu Tarani’s identity, would smile and accepts his obeisance. Bhai Vir Singh JI also mentions the name of Abul Tarani in his book “DASHMESH CHAMTKAR” Abul Tarani worked as Emperor’s spy in the GURU SAHIB’s court for about two years. In the book mentioned above, He has recorded and eye witness account of the Baisakhi in 1699.
“On this day, GURU SAHIB prepared a new nectar, there were about 35-40 thousand people present in the gathering to hear GURU SAHIB. The Mughals at that time had four thrones : Delhi, Agra, Lahore and Klanaur, But the throne of GURU SAHIB at SHRI ANANDPUR SAHIB had its own typical Glamour. This throne beats all the Mughal thrones in their Splendor. That day GURU SAHIB wore a gorgeous dress. He came into court, Unsheathed his sword and in loud voice said “ I need one head” without any hesitation one Daya Ram came forward and offering himself for sacrifice. GURU SAHIB in front of the whole congregation. Struck Daya Ram’s head with his sword and severed it from his body. The Audience was stunned and speechless. GURU SAHIB said again “I need another head”, immediately Dharam Chand stood up and bowed to the GURU. GURU SAHIB severed his head too in one stroke. The audience panicked and started leaving the court. GURU SAHIB asked for another head and one after another beheaded three more devotees. Himmat Rai, Mohkam Chand and Sahib Chand. Many people went to GURU SAHIB’s mother and narrated her the whole episode. GURU SAHIB cleaned and washed the five corpses and their severed heads. He also cleaned the floor so that no mark of the blood was left anywhere. Then the first prophet of the infidels stitched the severed head with one and other heads bodies and covered them with white sheets. He called for big stone and put on it a big steel bowl and started churning in into nectar. The prophet of the infidels stirred the water with sword and recited some wholly words. This went on for about half an hour. At that time a women, perhaps related to prophet came forward and put something in the bowl. Now the nectar was ready. GURU SAHIB then sat towards the head of corpses. He uncovered their faces and put some nectar in Daya Ram’s mouth and sprinkled it on this head and then all over his body and said
Say Khalsa belongs to God and God is always Victorious
(Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa ate Waheguru Ji ki Fateh) Immediately Daya Ram became alive. Stood up and repeated the words after GURU SAHIB. The whole congregation went pale with fear. Despite many thousand people present no one could breath loudly. They all had frozen under the spell of GURU SAHIB’s miracle. He then sprinkled the nectar on the other four corpus and asked them to say  “Khalsa belongs to God and God is always Victorious “ (Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh)They all came back to life and stood up before GURU SAHIB. With folded hands. GURU SAHIB took all the five into an adjoining marquee. After a while they all came out dressed in new clothes. GURU SAHIB asked them to give a drink of that nectar to him. They asked him what would pay for the nectar. GURU SAHIB said “I promise that I will sacrifice my parents, my children and all that posses for the well being of my people and the country.” Then the five offered that nectar to GURU SAHIB and the GURU SAHIB becomes GOBIND SINGH and other five were also named as Daya Singh, Dharam Singh, Himmat Singh, Mohkam Singh and Sahib Singh (And were called the beloved ones).” Abu Ulla Tarani writes that after watching all those miraculous happenings he wept and cried. He cursed himself for his treachery to GURU SAHIB. He then saw many thousand more begging GURU SAHIB for the nectar. He too could not control himself and like the force of magnet he felt pulled towards GURU SAHIB and begged him for a drop of nectar. GURU SAHIB patted him on the back, sprinkled nectar on his body and changed his name Ajmer Singh and all his sins were washed away.  He then Joined GURU SAHIB’s army and fought many battles against injustice. On that he sent his last report to the Emperor. He wrote to him everything that he had seen and witnessed and warned hm not to quarrel with GURU SAHIB. Who in his opinion was Allah himself.  He also wrote that if Emperor would not accept plea then his empire would collapse and his name would be rubbed from pages of History. According to Giani Dalip Singh of Komal Dhanaola a copy of this book was also found in the library of Alligarh Muslim University.
