GURDWARA SRI AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB is situated in the Distt City Amritsar. It is situated on the front side of GURDWARA SRI HARIMANDIR SAHIB. The Takhat Shri Darbar Sahib Akal Takhat means The Seat (Throne) of the Timeless One or Seat (Throne) of God. AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB is located in the Golden Templen complex in Amritsar, Punjab. The AKAL TAKHAT SAHIB was initially built by the sixth Guru of Sikhs, SRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI as a symbol for political sovereignty of Sikhs. It stood as symbol of political and military resistance against the Mughal Empire in the 17th and 18th century. GURU SAHIB used to hold a darbar for listening and solving the problem of his followers. This is First of the five TAKHAT SAHIBS of sikh religion. There is a golden bunga above the Takhat Sahib Inside which historical weapons of Guru Sahibs, Sahibzada's martyrs and Surbirs are decorated daily for the visit of Sangats. In the evening after the recitation of Sodur Rahiras Sahib Ji, open display of these weapons is done. This place is also known as Akal Bunga
Shri Kotha Sahib : - This place is inside Shri Akal Takhat Sahib This is the holy place where " SRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI " used to sit on the bed. But from the day Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was seated on the bed (For Sukhasan), in honor of Gurbani, " SRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI " started to sit on floor below the level of bed. To keep that sacred memory fresh, a blanket of rug is spread under that bed every day. At the day end Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji saroop from Sri Harmandir Sahib, are seated on the bed inside Kotha Sahib and during Morning time (Amrit Wela), Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is taken to the Golden Temple.
Historical Well : - SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI dug a well near Shri Akal Takhat Sahib Ji which was named Akalsar Sahib. After the new construction of Akal Takhat Sahib in 1984, this well has come inside the Akal Takhat Sahib building.
