GURDWARA SRI TAHLA SAHIB is situated in Village Guruwali, Distt Amritsar. Its is situated on Amritsar Taran Taaran Road marks a historic place, where BABA DEEP SINGH JI SHAHEED fought a battle with Mughals. Ahmad Shah Durani's general Jahan Khan captured and demolished SRI HARIMANDIR SAHIB and filled sacred pool with Slaughtered animals. BABA DEEP SINGH JI SHAHEED was at Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo and was of approx. 75 years Old in those days. To take revenge and recapture and rebuild SRI HARIMANDIR SAHIB, Baba ji started for Amritsar along with 500 Sikhs. Before leaving he took pledge that "I will take rest only after liberating SRI DARBAR SAHIB ". Many more Sikhs joined him on the way. Mughals army under command of Jahan Khan clashed with Sikh army here. After a long and fierce battle at this place, both warriors were beheaded in a common attack on each other. But, when BABA JI fell down on the ground, one of the young soldiers reminded him of his pledge. BABA JI immediately got up and took his head on his left hand and started fighting by taking Khanda (a double-edged sword weighing 18 seers/15 Kg) in his right hand. On seeing this miracle, the enemy started fleeing and but BABA JI along with his soldiers continued the fight and reached Amritsar, liberated SRI HARIMANDIR SAHIB, And took his last breath by placing his head in the southern part of the parikrama of SRI HARMANDIR SAHIB, now known as Bunga Baba Deep Singh. At the place, where BABA JI was beheaded, there was a very big Seasham tree(Tahli) with a bigger girth due which is known as TAHLA SAHIB. it is nearly 7 km from Amritsar on Tarn Taran Road.
