GURUDWARA SHRI CHOLA SAHIB
When SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI went to the Arabian country in 1519 AD during the fourth Udhasi, the Lajward king of the Arab country was informed that there is a Hindu fakir who is preaching in our area, The Lajward king sent GURU SAHIB an invitation to his court. The king had a magical chola, which by wearing would lead to religious conversion. The wearer used to adopt the Muslim religion. After hearing GURU SAHIB preachings, the king thought that if this magical robe is given to him, then the Hindu fakir will preach for our Muslim religion, which will be very beneficial for our religion. The king gave robe to SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI. GURU SAHIB ji said that if you want to give the robe, then you should yourself put it on me. After hearing this, the king did not delayed and ordered the officer to help GURU SAHIB to wear this. As there was no bad effect of the robe on GURU SAHIB, Then after some time, Lajvard king said that you should take it off, then GURU SAHIB said, you have put it on me, now you should take it off. Lajvard king again ordered the officer to take off the robe. When the officer started to remove this robe, it became part of the body of SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI and stuck to the body. The king was surprised and ordered the officer to remove it with his own strength. Torture GURU SAHIB and he will remove himself. GURU SAHIB Ji was tortured but there was no effect on GURU SAHIB. After seeing GURU SAHIB, the king had to fall on GURU SAHIB's feet.
GURU SAHIB finished the fourth Udasi, and reached Sri Kartar Sahib( Dera Baba Nanak ) and took off the Udasi bana and put on worldly clothes, then gave Udasi Libas i.e. Chola Sahib to SRI GURU ANGAD DEV JI as well as Guru Gaddi. Presented on time to time, In the same way, Chola Sahib continued to be passed on along with Guru Gaddi till Panj Patshahiya SRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI In 1604 AD, a Sikh Bhai Tota Ram from Balkh Bukhara (Afghanistan) was serving in the construction of Sarovar of Sri Harmandir Sahib Ji. Tota Ram got hit by spade on his foot while serving, but he did not stopped serving. GURU SAHIB ji called Tota Ram and said, Bhai Sikh, your service is accepted, ask for something from the Guru's house, Bhai Tota Ram said, You have given me a lot of grace, daughters, sons, happiness, marriage, wealth, but my area is devoid of Sikhism. SRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI gave Sri Chola Sahib to Bhai Tota Ram ji and he took it to his city and continued to serve during his lifetime. Tota Ram ji, in his last days, kept this robe in a cave and placed a stone in front of it and prayed, Maharaj, whomever you order, will take robe from here. After a long time, the 9th generation of SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI Baba Kabli Mall ji took the devotees of his area to that place. They brought back Chola Sahib and today SRI GURU NANAK DEV JI 17th descendants of Baba Jagdeep Singh Bedi are serving this Gurdwara Sri Chola Sahib at Dera Baba Nanak, District Gurdaspur Punjab.
