GURDWARA SRI SAHIBZAADA AJIT SINGH JI is situated in Village Bassi Kalan Distt Hoshiarpur. Bassi Kalan is situated at Village Bassi Kalan, 2 KM from Chabbewal. This site remarks skirmish between Sahibzada Ajit SIngh and Hakim Zabar Khan. Sahibzada Ajit Singh was leading his Jatha during this clash. Hakim Jabar Khan (a Pathan) was the chieftain of the village of Bassi Kalan and 21 other Villages in Hoshiarpur District. He used to torture the Hindus of the villages. Khan would even have his men snatch the wedding doli of young hindu brides so he could rape them before their marriages were consummated. Devi Das was a poor brahmin who belonged to Jaijon, a village near Hoshiarpur. Jabar Khan had forcibly kidnapped the newly wedded wife of Devi Das. The Brahmin was sad and heart broken and wept before the Muslim qazis (judges) and other religious leaders, but nobody cared. Finally in desperation, he went to the Darbar (Court) of SRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI at Anandpur Sahib and narrated his story to the GURU SAHIB. After listening to the story the GURU SAHIB ordered Baba Ajit Singh to arrest Zabar Khan and to return the wife of Devi Das to her husband. GURU SAHIB Send Baba Ajit Singh with 200 Brave Soldiers. At Hoshiarpur Bhai Ratan Singh helped Sahibzada Ji and planned the attack. In Evening Sahibzada Ajit Singh attacked on Zabar Khan's dwelling. After fight, Jabar Khan though wounded, was arrested and tied up. Baba Ajit Singh sent Pathan Zabar Khan and the wife of Devi Das to Anandpur with some Sikhs. Zabar khan was punished at Anandpur for his misdeeds. Baba Ajit SIngh ji then cremated the martyred singhs. Cremations of martyrs were done at GURDWARA SRI SHAHIDAN, LADHEWAL and GURDWARA SRI HARIAN VELLAN. Baba Ratan Singh ji also got wounds and died after few days.
